Two Puppies Peered Over the Playpen Wall, Plotting Something Big

AI imageruby cavalierpuppiesplaypen

Two ruby puppies stand shoulder to shoulder at the wall of their mesh playpen, front paws hooked over the top rail and ears hanging down like silky curtains. One looks straight ahead with great determination, while the other seems to be calculating the height. Beyond them lies a carpeted room full of tempting things, and toys wait on a shelf in the background.

A playpen gives a puppy a safe space of her own while her people cook, work, or take a shower, and many puppies learn to treat it as home base. Make the space inviting with a bed, water, and safe chew toys, and use it for short stretches rather than as an all-day solution. Puppies need plenty of social time, play, and exercise outside the pen too.

If your puppies are trying to climb out, there are a few kind fixes. Offer more attention and toys before pen time, make sure the walls are tall enough for the stage they are at, and stay close. Never leave a pup alone where she could catch a collar or limb on mesh, and remove collars while she is inside, as your vet or trainer can explain.

Whatever their plan is, these two are in it together. The escape may take a while, and it will almost surely involve a lot of paw scrabbling, but they look ready for the long haul.
