Four Ruby Puppies Sank Into the Sheepskin and Didn't Move for Hours
A thick, cream-colored sheepskin rug holds four sleeping ruby puppies, curled in a loose row with their noses tucked toward one another. Their silky coats are a deep mahogany against the wool, and their ears drape flat across the fleece. A wicker basket and a quiet window sit in the background, and the room appears completely still.
Puppies are growing fast, and growing takes a lot of sleep. It is common for young dogs to spend a large part of the day napping, in short blocks between play, and a warm, soft place to settle is a big help. A sheepskin or similar rug is cozy, but it can also hold on to moisture and loose hair, so it needs regular washing, especially around puppies who may have the odd accident.
Cavaliers have a silky coat with feathering on the ears, chest, and legs, so a gentle brush a few times a week helps prevent tangles. Starting these sessions early, with soft handling and treats, teaches a puppy to enjoy being groomed. If you notice skin irritation or a lot of scratching, it is worth asking your vet.
The scene has a lovely rhythm to it: four small bodies, four slow breaths, and one big fluffy rug. If you listened closely, you might hear a tiny snore or two, and nothing else.
