Five Ruby Puppies Inspected the Lettuce Patch and Found It Fascinating
Five ruby puppies have wandered into the vegetable patch and are bunched together between rows of lettuce and feathery carrot tops. Their coppery coats stand out against the green leaves, and ears hang long and silky. One looks up with bright, curious eyes, while another has nudged his nose down toward the soil, as if checking whether anything interesting is growing. A bit of carrot peeks out near the front.
Gardens are full of exciting smells for a spaniel, and that is part of why they are so tempting. They can also hold hazards. Fertilizers, slug bait, and compost can be harmful if eaten, and some garden plants, like onions and garlic, are toxic to dogs. Keep a close eye on puppies, store garden products safely, and talk to your vet if you think a puppy has swallowed something unusual.
Most puppies are curious about digging, and some dogs enjoy it more than others. A dedicated digging spot, such as a sandbox with buried toys, can save the vegetable beds. Cavaliers have a gentle, social temperament, but their spaniel background gives them a fondness for scents, so a secure fence matters.
This team appears to be doing a thorough inspection of the lettuce. Whether they are helping or hindering is a mystery. They look very pleased with the work, and the carrots are certainly getting plenty of attention.
