Three Sleepy Puppies Found the Warmest Spot in the Whole House
Light pours through a window onto a wooden sill, and three cream puppies have arranged themselves in the warmest corner. Their fluffy coats look almost golden, and each tiny face is turned in a slightly different direction, eyes closed and ears tucked. A small potted plant, a cup, and a folded cloth sit beside them, as if the whole windowsill had been set for a nap.
Dogs have always loved sunny spots, and puppies are no exception. Warmth helps them relax, and a view of the outdoors keeps them entertained when they wake. Windowsills and low perches can be risky for tiny pups, though, because they can slip or fall. A sturdy, low bench or a window seat with a safe edge works better, and screens should be secure.
Havanese puppies sleep a great deal, as most young dogs do, and rest is important for their growth. Their long, silky coats also benefit from clean surfaces and regular brushing, since fur that lies in the same position for hours can tangle easily. A quick comb after naptime keeps mats from forming.
It is a quiet scene, with only the slow rise and fall of three tiny ribs and the soft hum of an afternoon. If a sunbeam could be a bed, this one has been claimed, and the sleepers aren't planning on giving it up soon.
