Two Puppies Moved Into the Boot Rack by the Back Door
Two blue merle Border Collie puppies have discovered the mudroom, and the boots lined up by the door are now their lookout towers. One pup sits in a dark green boot, the other in a sunny yellow one, with a gray boot and a navy boot waiting empty beside them. Both have their faces turned toward the camera, with wide curious eyes and slightly crooked ears.
Puppies are drawn to shoes and boots for good reason. They smell strongly of their favorite people, and the leather, rubber and laces are fun to chew. Keeping footwear out of reach is the easiest way to protect your shoes, and offering a safe chew toy in return can redirect the habit. Chewing is normal when puppies are teething, which usually happens in the first several months, and your vet can suggest ways to ease it.
Blue merle Border Collies often have striking eyes, and these two look to be keeping a close watch on whatever is coming through the door. The breed is known for noticing everything that goes on around the house. Many owners find their Border Collie learns the sound of the car, the clink of keys and the rustle of a leash very quickly.
The rain has not started yet, but these two are already prepared. They will need larger boots eventually, since they will not stay this size for long.
