Three Little Havanese Pups Discovered Snow and Went Wild
Snow has covered the yard overnight, and three black and white Havanese puppies are bouncing through it as though it were made for them. The one on the left has its mouth open in a happy pant, the middle pup is nose to nose with a friend, and the third has snow clinging to its fluffy chest. The back steps of the house are dusted white behind them, and a wooden fence frames the scene.
Havanese have a long, silky coat, but it is not built for heavy winter weather the way some northern breeds' coats are. Small puppies chill quickly, so snow play should be short and followed by a warm, dry place to rest. Snowballs can also form between the toes and in long fur, so a gentle rub with a towel after coming inside is a good habit. If your pup shivers or lifts its paws and refuses to walk, it is time to go in.
Ice melt and salt can bother paws and stomachs, so wipe feet after walks on treated sidewalks. A cozy sweater can help a tiny dog on a cold day, and talking to your vet about what is best for your pup's age and coat is always a good idea.
For these three, the cold is clearly not the main topic. They are far more excited about the powder that flies up when they leap, and each new hop seems better than the last.
