Five Saint Bernard Puppies Melted Into One Sleepy Pile
A shaft of warm sunlight has landed on the hardwood floor, and five red and white Saint Bernard puppies have landed right in it. They lie piled together like a pile of pillows, with heads on backs and paws on faces, their fluffy white chests rising and falling in slow time. A couple of faces are turned up toward the camera, eyes half closed.
Giant breed puppies like the Saint Bernard sleep a lot, because they are growing at remarkable speed. Rest is important for their bodies, and a quiet place to doze helps them recover from their play. Because their joints are growing too, a rug or a soft bed on a hard floor can be kinder than bare wood, so keep a cozy spot nearby.
Saint Bernards are known for their calm, kind temperament, and a heap of sleeping pups shows it. That gentle nature is one reason the breed has been loved for generations. Regular, moderate exercise and good training from a young age help a big dog grow up to be a polite housemate.
The sunlight will slide across the floor eventually, and the pile will probably follow. Until then, it is a perfect afternoon. Their ears twitch in dreams, a paw flexes and relaxes, and every few moments someone sighs loudly and settles even closer to the heap, with the sun still warm on all five backs.
