Four Saint Bernard Puppies Found the Toy Box and Moved In
Four red and white Saint Bernard puppies are peeking out of a wooden toy box, lined up in a row with their chins on the edge. Colorful building blocks and a stuffed whale sit beside them, and stuffed animals are piled on a basket in the background. The pups look wide-eyed, as if they have just discovered the best toy of all: the box itself.
Toy boxes are fun, but not every toy is safe for a puppy. Children's toys, especially small blocks, plastic parts and anything with batteries, can be choking hazards or cause problems if swallowed. Keep kids' toys separate from your dog's toys, and offer chew toys made for dogs. If your puppy swallows something that is not food, call your vet right away.
Giant breed puppies like Saint Bernards can be clumsy, so a big wooden box and small blocks can become a mess in minutes. Even so, their gentle nature makes them popular family dogs. They usually do well with children, though a puppy this large should always be supervised around small kids, since it can knock them over without meaning to.
For now the four are only looking. They seem to be making plans, and the toys better watch out. One pup has already put a paw on a wooden block and is studying it very seriously, while another is trying to figure out how to fit a stuffed whale into the plan.
