A Tired White Puppy Flopped on the Tile Floor and Looked Outside

AI imagemaltesepuppykitchen floor

Stretched out on a cool tile floor, a small white puppy gazes toward the open doorway. His fluffy coat is a little ruffled, his chin rests against the tile, and his dark eyes look soft and a bit wistful. Beyond him, bright garden greenery shows through the door, and a woven mat and a wooden chair sit at the edge of the room. The kitchen smells, we imagine, of morning toast.

Dogs often like cool tile on a warm day, and a puppy resting on it can simply be adjusting his temperature. Tile can also be hard on little joints and chilly for tiny Maltese, though, so provide a soft bed nearby so he can choose. Watch your puppy near open doors, since tiny pups can slip outside without being noticed, and keep an eye on him near hard floors, where small legs can slide.

Maltese puppies are lively and affectionate, and they often follow their people around the house. A calm rest on the floor is often a sign of a pup taking a break between adventures. Give them fresh water, a comfortable place to nap, and regular meals, and talk to your vet if you have questions about a puppy's health.

He looks like he is thinking about the garden but not quite ready to go. Maybe after one more minute of rest.
