Four White Puppies Climbed Into the Laundry Basket Before the Wash

AI imagemaltesepuppieslaundry basket

The laundry basket has been taken over by a clump of white fluff. Four puppies sit or lie close together on a folded towel, each looking out at a slightly different angle. The pup at the top left peers sideways with a little frown, the one on the right looks calmly ahead, and the two in front lean on each other with sleepy eyes. Behind them, a washing machine, a detergent bottle, and a hallway with slippers fill the background.

Laundry areas are interesting for puppies, but they hold plenty of hazards. Detergents, softeners, and dryer sheets can make a dog sick, and small socks or cloths are easy to swallow. Keep chemicals on a high shelf and close the washer and dryer doors, since small pups have been known to climb in. Check carefully before starting a load, and call your vet if a puppy gets into anything unsafe.

Maltese puppies are so small that a basket feels like a roomy den. They enjoy snug spaces and the smell of clean laundry. Gentle handling and a safe place to play help them feel at home, and a washable bed in a quiet corner gives them a better napping place than the clean clothes. Closing the door is the simple fix.

The laundry will wait. At the moment, the best-smelling pile in the house is occupied.
