Two Sable Corgi Puppies Found a Slipper and Went to Work
Noses down and ears wide, two sable puppies have pinned a gray fuzzy slipper to the floor and are chewing on it with serious intent. The one on the left has dark, thoughtful eyes and the one on the right looks up with a cheek full of fleece. Behind them, a rug and a few fabrics suggest the slipper was left in a risky spot.
Slippers are a time-honored target for puppies because they smell like people and feel good on sore gums. Teething usually starts around three months and can last until about six months, when baby teeth give way to adult ones. Offering cold, dog-safe chew toys can soothe the gums and save the footwear. Keep shoes and slippers out of reach, as swallowed bits of foam or fabric can cause problems inside.
Corgis are bright and energetic, and a bored Corgi can find plenty to chew on. Trading is often the best strategy: when a pup picks up something she shouldn't, calmly offer a toy and praise her for taking it. Avoid chasing, since that turns it into a game. Your vet can recommend safe chews if you aren't sure.
Sadly for the slipper, these two seem to have teamed up, and it appears to be a long battle. A good chew toy will be waiting when they finally look up.
