Juniper Decided the Walk Home Was Grandpa's Job

AI imageragdollporch stepswalk

After a long walk, Gus has scooped Juniper up and now carries her up the porch steps like a precious bundle. She has gone completely limp in his arms, her cream fur spilling over his forearm and her blue eyes looking out with calm satisfaction. Weathered railings, clay flowerpots, and a little green watering can fill the background, and his smile is the soft, tired kind that comes after a good outing. Fallen leaves and a few leaning flowerpots show the porch has seen plenty of seasons, and the cat looks right at home in it.

Ragdolls got their name from their tendency to relax when picked up, and many of them truly enjoy being carried. Still, every cat is different, so it is good manners to support a cat's chest and hind legs and to let her go if she wiggles. Short, easy walks can be a nice bonding exercise for cats who like them, especially with a harness and a calm temperament, but cats should never be pushed to go farther than they want. Fresh water and a quiet rest afterward are always a good idea.

Juniper has clearly decided that walking the whole way home was optional. Gus doesn't seem to mind carrying fifteen pounds of fluff, and honestly the view from his arms is probably the best on the block. Home is just a few more steps away, and a nap is surely waiting.
