Five Little Heads Drooped at Once Between This Exotic Shorthair's Big Paws
Five little yellow heads, all drooping at once. A round-faced gray Exotic Shorthair has stretched out on a woven rug with his front paws spread wide, and in the cozy space between them, a cluster of fluffy ducklings has fallen fast asleep, bills tucked and eyes squeezed shut. The cat's own eyes are nearly closed too, his chunky cheeks and flat nose giving him the look of a very contented teddy bear. In the background, a houseplant sits by the window, a pair of slippers lies on the floor, and a soft gray blanket is crumpled nearby.
Exotic Shorthairs are sometimes described as Persians in pajamas. They share the Persian's sweet, calm temperament and flat-faced look, but with a short, dense, plush coat that is far easier to care for. They tend to be affectionate, quiet, and happy to lounge. Their flat faces can come with some care needs, such as tear staining and occasional breathing sensitivity, so gentle face wiping and regular vet visits are helpful. Ducklings, meanwhile, need steady warmth in their first weeks, usually from a heat source in a brooder, which may be why these chicks are so eager to cuddle.
Whatever brought them together, this little nap looks utterly peaceful. The cat makes a fine furry fence, the ducklings make a warm golden pillow, and everyone seems happy to doze the afternoon away.
