The Tractor Seat Had Two Passengers and Neither Was Driving
A worn black tractor seat has become a throne for two. A black Devon Rex with wavy fur, wide ears and a calm, slightly regal expression sits on the left. Waffles lies beside her with his head resting on the cracked vinyl and his eyes closed. A coat hangs on a hook, a pair of rubber boots and a cardboard box sit nearby, and a shaft of daylight comes in from a door to the side.
Devon Rex cats are known for their thin, wavy coats and their big personalities. They are sometimes called pixies because of their large ears and mischievous faces. They tend to be warm-seeking and love being close to their people, so a spot on a seat in a sunlit shed suits them. Farm equipment, however, is not a safe play area. Engines, hot parts and sharp edges can be very dangerous, so pets should only rest on machinery that is switched off, cool and parked. When in doubt, offer a blanket on the ground instead.
Today the tractor is parked and the engine is cold, so the two of them are safe to doze. They look like they have decided that the seat is theirs for the whole afternoon. Nobody is going anywhere, and the old seat has never looked so full of happiness or so well cared for.
