The Laundry Was Warm and Two Very Different Pets Moved In
The laundry basket is overflowing with warm towels, and it has been claimed. A fluffy tuxedo cat with a white chest and black ears lies on the left with her eyes closed in bliss. Moss the tortoise rests beside her on the folds, with his head tucked out and his domed shell glowing in the soft light. The wicker basket is wide and sturdy, and a white wall and wooden skirting behind it make the corner feel peaceful.
Warm, soft spots are a magnet for cats, who love to curl up on fresh laundry. Tortoises also need warmth to stay healthy, and they often seek out sunny or heated spots. A tortoise will usually do best with a proper heat lamp setup and a safe enclosure, so a basket should only be a brief, supervised visit. Cats are curious and sometimes a little heavy, so it is smart to watch them with small reptiles. When your pets nap on towels, wash them often and make sure there are no loose threads that could tangle claws or toes.
For now, the two of them look completely at ease, as if they planned the whole thing. The towels are warm, the room is calm, and the laundry can wait until another day. Whoever comes to fold the towels will have to fold them around a very comfortable pair of sleepers.
