The Beagle's Bed Was Big Enough for the Whole Duck Family
A lemon and white Beagle has curled up in a big round bed that looks like a giant cream-colored marshmallow. His soft, folded ears frame a calm, slightly sleepy face. Tucked into the curve of the bed beside his nose is a row of yellow ducklings, lined up neatly like peas in a pod. A wicker hamper overflowing with laundry sits behind them, along with a toy basket, a window with white curtains and a few scattered chew toys. The whole room feels like a midday pause.
Beagles were bred as scent hounds, and they are cheerful, curious and food-motivated. They typically get along well with other pets and make friendly family dogs, though that nose can lead them into mischief. A Beagle's instinct to follow a scent can also be strong, so keep ducklings safely contained when you are not able to watch them. A plush dog bed is fine for a snuggle, but it is not a safe place for ducklings to live, since they need a heated brooder, fresh water and a non-slip floor. Ask a vet how to care for ducklings and keep dogs and birds safe.
The Beagle's calm face tells you he is happy to share. A cushy bed, a friend or ten, and nowhere to be makes for a very good afternoon indeed.
