The Pug Went Splashing Down the Creek With an Unexpected Hopping Partner

AI imagepugbunnycreek

The water is only a few inches deep, but it is enough to make a splash. A fawn Pug with a wrinkled black muzzle and wide, determined eyes is trotting through a shallow creek, kicking up droplets, and right beside him a small brown bunny hops through the stream with her ears pricked. Mossy rocks, tall grass and a fence line sit in the soft light behind them, and the whole scene feels like a very small adventure.

Pugs are cheerful, comical dogs who love company and attention. Their short, flat faces make it harder for them to cool down and breathe during exercise, so they do best with short, gentle outings, shade and fresh water. Pugs are usually not strong swimmers, so a shallow creek like this is much safer than deep water, and a dry towel afterward is a good idea.

Rabbits generally avoid water and do not enjoy getting wet, since a soaked coat can chill them quickly. Pip is clearly the adventurous type, but rabbits in general are best kept dry and warm. Natural water can also carry bacteria, so it is smart to rinse dogs off after a dip and not let them drink from stagnant puddles.

A little splash in the afternoon is good for the soul, and these two do not seem to mind getting their paws wet. The creek gurgles along beside them as they go.
