Two Sets of Curious Eyes Watched From the Old Barn Door
A tan and white mixed-breed dog stands in the doorway of an old barn, ears soft and eyes turned off to one side. Behind him, peeking out from the shadows by the door frame, a small brown bunny sits up on her hind legs with her ears straight up. Hay bales stack up in the background, a bulb glows overhead, and bits of straw cover the dirt floor. They look like two neighbors checking the weather.
Many rescue dogs have a mix of traits that makes them hard to predict, and a few weeks of routine and gentle handling can help them settle in. When introducing a rescue dog to a rabbit, go slowly, observe body language, and never force an interaction. A relaxed dog will have loose shoulders and soft eyes, and a curious rabbit will sit up and sniff the air. Barns offer lots of places for a bunny to hide, which is helpful because rabbits feel much calmer when there is a safe spot nearby. As with all pets, talk to your vet about vaccines and parasite prevention if animals share outdoor spaces.
The bunny looks as though she is hiding but also in on the game, using the dog as a friendly lookout. There is a small bit of humor in the way they pose, one in front and one behind. Who needs a doorbell when you have two such watchful faces ready for visitors?
