Two Garden Inspectors, One Tiny Yorkie and One Very Big Horse
Rows of leafy plants fill the raised beds, and two inspectors are on duty. A little blue and tan Yorkshire Terrier plants his paws among the greens and sniffs closely, while a big chestnut horse in a leather halter lowers his head right next to him and takes a deep, curious breath. A fence, a trellis, and a warm garden light glow in the background. The Yorkie is Peanut again and the horse is Copper. Every leaf and stake looks like a clue to be investigated.
Yorkshire Terriers are tiny but fearless, and they have a strong terrier curiosity about everything that smells interesting. Their silky coats need regular brushing, and their small size means they should be kept safe around large animals. Horses are also curious, and they use their noses and whiskers to explore the world. Their shared curiosity makes them natural garden companions.
Gardens can hold hazards for pets. Many common plants are not safe to eat, including some bulbs and garden favorites, and fertilizers and slug bait can be harmful. If you let your dog or horse near a garden, supervise closely and make sure the plants are safe. Your vet can tell you about local plants to avoid.
Peanut is sniffing every leaf, and Copper is taking the whole thing very seriously. It is a thorough inspection. The vegetables will have to wait for their verdict.
