Somebody Lifted the Bengal Kitten to Place the Star. She Had Plans.

Two careful hands hold a spotted Bengal kitten up beside the tallest branch, and her golden eyes are already locked on the shiny gold star. Her paws reach forward and her rosetted brown coat glows against the green tree, which is hung with red baubles, gold ornaments and pinecones. A grey sleeve is all we see of the helper, while the couch, a plaid blanket and a mug sit quietly behind them.

Bengal cats have a famous spotted coat that echoes their wild-cat look, and they're known for being athletic, curious and very energetic. A Bengal kitten will often climb the tree before anyone has a chance to offer a boost, so a sturdy base and a spot away from tall furniture are smart choices. When you do lift a kitten, support her chest and back legs rather than dangling her. And a star or other tree-top ornament belongs well out of reach afterward, since sharp edges and small pieces aren't a toy.

This kitten looks as if she's about to make the most important decision of the season: where the star goes. Maybe she'll bat at it, maybe she'll just stare, but the moment is theirs. The tree has never had a more determined assistant. Bengals love height, so her view from up there is probably the best present she could ask for.
