A Cinnamon Kitten Studied the Halloween Garland From Below
Wide green eyes and huge ears, a cinnamon Abyssinian kitten sits on a woven rug looking at something just beyond the picture. Above, a felt garland of orange pumpkins, black maple leaves, and one little bat swings from a string across the room. The kitten's fur has a warm, ticked pattern, like a tiny copper statue come to life. Behind her, a sofa with a grey blanket, a basket of blankets, a pumpkin on the side table, and a wooden door fill the cozy room.
Abyssinian kittens are famously active and curious, and they often investigate every corner of the house. They like to climb, so a cat tree or sturdy shelf gives them a safe outlet. The breed's short ticked coat is easy to care for, and many Abys enjoy interactive play with wand toys and puzzles. Kittens may be tempted to bat at hanging decorations, so keep string and garlands high enough that they cannot be pulled down and chewed, since string can cause serious problems if swallowed. If your kitten seems interested in a decoration, offer a toy in its place.
Let's call her Cinnamon. She sits quietly under the garland as if she is deciding which bat to chase first. A very curious pair of ears turn to every sound in the room, and the pumpkin garland sways a little. Her whole world is new and exciting.
