The Curtain Came Down and the Dog Decided to Wear It
A torn cream curtain hangs over the head and shoulders of a black, tan and white dog, giving her the look of a very dignified traveler in a shawl. Her soft ears peek out of the fabric, and her eyes look off to one side with a serious, thoughtful gaze. A sofa and a basket with a plant sit in a bright room behind her. Somewhere up above, a rod is surely missing a curtain.
Dogs often climb into curtains and fabric because it is soft, it smells like the house, and it moves in a way that is fun to chase. A bored or excited dog can pull down a whole panel in a moment. Daily exercise, training games and chew toys help channel that energy. If a dog is tangled, stay calm, loosen the cloth gently and check for scratches. If she swallowed any fabric, call your vet.
Loose threads and curtain hooks can be hazards, so take down damaged curtains and check the floor before she walks around. Many dogs also like watching the outdoors from a window, and a comfy perch can give her a view without the curtains.
For the moment, she is in no hurry to leave her new wrap. She wears it with such calm that you might think it was a fashion statement.
