The Poodle Found the Treat Bag and Pretended She Hadn't
A white Poodle with soft, curly fur lies on a rug, her head turned away as though she is thinking about something else entirely. Next to her paws lies a ripped bag with bone-shaped treats spilled across the floor. A wooden table, a throw blanket and a mug sit in the room behind her. She is working hard at not making eye contact.
Poodles are among the most intelligent dogs, and they are lively, athletic and eager to learn. They are also quite good at figuring out where treats are kept. Their curly coats need regular brushing and grooming to avoid mats, and a Poodle who stays busy with training games is a happy one. A big feast of treats can upset a dog's stomach and add extra calories, so if she ate a lot, call your vet.
Treat bags are best stored in a sealed container or a cabinet, since the smell tends to attract a Poodle's nose. Using small, healthy treats for training makes them last longer.
She keeps looking elsewhere, perhaps hoping that the treat bag will disappear. It will not, but she looks very elegant, even in her guilt. Poodles are also quick learners, so she will likely check that same cupboard again tomorrow, just in case. A trick or two before dinner can earn her a legal treat and keep her busy, too.
