A Shiba Inu Named Mochi Is Caught With Cream on His Nose

AI imageshiba inuwhipped creampie

A dollop of whipped cream sits on the tip of his black nose, with a few smaller dabs on his cheeks, and the cream Shiba Inu has frozen as though caught in a camera flash. His eyes are round and dark, his ears stand straight up, and next to him a pie with a heaping layer of cream has a clear dent where something very curious got in. The kitchen behind him is crowded with dishes and cloths.

Shiba Inus are small, bright, independent dogs from Japan, known for their fox-like faces and their cat-like habit of keeping themselves clean. They are intelligent and spirited, and also famously stubborn, so training them takes patience and a good sense of humor. They are also very good at getting their noses into things. A dab of whipped cream is usually not a crisis, but many desserts contain ingredients that are not good for dogs, such as chocolate, raisins, or sugar substitutes like xylitol, and a lot of rich cream can upset their stomachs. Keep desserts well back on the counter and talk to your vet if your dog eats something you are not sure about.

He looks like a dog who has just realized the pie was not for him. We will call him Mochi. A warm cloth will tidy the nose, but nothing will erase the memory of how delicious it was.
