Waffles the Pug Holds Up Two Frosting-Covered Paws
Both front paws are lifted and dotted with white frosting, as if the black Pug is showing off a pair of tiny cake gloves. His round eyes look up at the camera with great seriousness, his wrinkled forehead is creased, and a few crumbs are scattered on the tile floor around him. Behind him, kitchen cabinets and counters hold dishes, and a blue sponge lies on the floor, forgotten.
Pugs are small, sturdy, affectionate dogs known for their wrinkled faces and big personalities, and they often love food enough to figure out any way to get it. Their short noses can make breathing harder, especially when hot, so they are best kept in cool places with gentle exercise. Cake and frosting are best kept away from dogs, as they are full of sugar and fat, and some contain chocolate or xylitol, both dangerous for dogs. If your pug eats something like this, call your vet. Because Pugs gain weight easily, a healthy diet is worth discussing with your vet. A wipe-down of the paws and face is usually all the cleanup that is needed after a sugary adventure.
We will call him Waffles. He seems pleased with himself, and the frosting probably tasted wonderful. The kitchen floor will need a mop, and Waffles will need a stern talking-to that he will not remember.
