Snowball the Samoyed Got Into the Flour and Blended Right In

AI imagesamoyedflourkitchen

The Samoyed is already white, but now she has flour on her nose, across her cheeks, and in a fine dusting over her chest. She looks up with soft, dark eyes and a little hopeful smile. Behind her, the kitchen counter is a heap of bowls, spoons, and a spilled bag of flour, with a warm light glowing from a lamp. It is hard to say where the dog ends and the flour begins.

Samoyeds are fluffy, friendly dogs from Siberia, famous for their white coats and their permanent smile, which comes from the upturned corners of their mouths. They are social and energetic, and they tend to want to be involved with whatever the family is doing, which includes baking. That thick double coat needs regular brushing, especially during shedding season, and a coat full of flour is easy to brush out once it is dry. Plain flour is not usually dangerous in small amounts, but baking ingredients like chocolate, raisins, and xylitol are, so keep them out of reach, and call your vet if your dog eats something questionable.

We will call her Snowball. She looks like a dog who has been through a blizzard of her own making. A good brushing and a bit of patience will clear things up, and she will be happily ready for the next recipe.
