One paw is lifted, and the white cat looks as if she is about to take a step and then thought better of it. The comforter below her is covered in muddy brown paw prints, some dark and some light, and her round eyes are as wide as they can go. She sits dead center on the bed with her pink nose and big ears sticking up, and the room behind her is a warm, messy bedroom with clothes piled in a corner.

White cats show every speck of dirt, so a trip through the garden can leave a very obvious record. Cats clean themselves constantly, but a muddy coat can still be a lot to deal with, and a damp towel can help with the worst of it. Some white cats, particularly those with blue eyes, can be prone to deafness, and white-coated cats can sunburn on their ears and noses, so it is wise to talk to your vet about sun protection if she spends time outside. Most cats love beds, since they are soft, warm, and smell like their favorite people.

She seems to have realized what she has done, and it has frozen her to the spot. The sheets will need washing, and she will need a wipe-down. She has certainly left her mark, and a fresh set of sheets will be waiting for her tonight.
