A Shaggy Maine Coon Stands Still in a Pool of Spilled Milk
Milk has spread in a wide white pool across the floor, and the brown tabby Maine Coon is standing right in the middle of it with four wet paws. His ears are tilted back and his green eyes are turned to the camera with a sheepish look. His shaggy coat is thick and tufted, and a laundry basket and a plant stand behind him in the kitchen, looking on in silence.
Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, and their size is matched by their gentle, social nature. Many of them like water more than other cats and will often dip a paw in a bowl, which may explain the splashing here. Milk is a classic treat in stories, but many adult cats have trouble digesting it, and it can upset their stomachs, so fresh water is a better choice. If your cat drinks a lot of milk and seems unwell, talk to your vet. Wet floors can also be slippery for a large cat, so wiping up spills quickly is a good idea. A small towel by the door can help with wet paws.
He does not move, and he seems to hope that if he stays still the puddle will disappear. The mop will be needed soon, and he will probably leave footprints on the way out.
