A Beagle Got Himself Tangled in the Window Blinds
The window blinds have caught a Beagle. A tricolor dog named Copper sits tangled in the white slats and cords, with his ears pulled back and his brown eyes turned toward the camera in a sheepish look. Sunlight pours through the bent blinds around him, and a pile of laundry and a sofa fill the room behind the window. It seems he was looking for something outside.
Beagles are curious, friendly dogs with a superb nose and a love for watching the world go by. Many like to sit by the window to keep an eye on squirrels, birds and passersby. They were bred to follow a scent trail and can be single-minded about whatever has caught their attention, which is why a Beagle may push through blinds for a better view.
Window blind cords can be dangerous for pets and for children because they can tangle or tighten. It is best to keep cords short, tied up high or replaced with cordless blinds. If your dog gets tangled, stay calm, free him gently and check for any scrapes. Call your vet if he seems hurt. A comfy window perch can give a dog a safe view.
Copper looks a bit embarrassed but still hopeful, as though the squirrel outside is worth every bent slat. He can wait for a rescue with dignity.
