Somebody Filled the Tub, and a Sphynx Cat Decided to Test It

Soap bubbles rise around a gray Sphynx cat who has found her way into the bathtub. Her wrinkled skin glistens, her enormous ears are tilted back, and her pale eyes look off to the side with a hint of embarrassment. White foam piles up around her paws, a tile wall glows behind her, and a basket of laundry waits in the corner. The look on her face says this was meant to be a quiet visit.

Sphynx cats have no coat to speak of, so they lose heat quickly and often seek out warm spots like laps, sunny windows, or a tub that still feels warm. Their skin can get oily because there is no fur to absorb it, so many Sphynx owners give them an occasional bath with a gentle product made for cats. Never use human shampoo or a bubble bath meant for people, since these can irritate skin, and keep the water shallow and comfortably warm. If your cat is not used to baths, take it slowly with plenty of calm patience. A soft towel and a warm room make a great finish.

For now, she seems to be weighing her options and enjoying the warmth, even if she will deny it later. The bubbles are an unexpected bonus. A fluffy towel is waiting for her whenever she decides the spa day is over.
