The Cocker Spaniel Froze With Cream on His Nose Beside the Pie
One white dollop of whipped cream sits on the tip of the Cocker Spaniel's nose, and his big dark eyes are wide open. A pie with a missing slice sits right beside him on the counter, and a few crumbs and spoons lie scattered nearby. His long, silky ears hang on either side of his face as he stays perfectly frozen, like a puppy who just heard his name.
Cocker Spaniels are cheerful, affectionate dogs with a soft, wavy coat and a keen sense of smell. They were originally bred to flush birds from the brush, and they are still enthusiastic sniffers. That nose can find a pie from a long way off, and their long ears often drag into things as they explore.
Whipped cream is rich and can upset a dog's stomach, and many desserts contain ingredients that are dangerous to dogs, including chocolate, raisins, grapes and sweeteners like xylitol. A small lick of cream may be fine, but a whole pie is a different matter. Keep desserts well back from the edge, and call your vet if your dog eats something unsafe.
The spaniel looks surprised at being caught. He has probably forgotten about the cream, which is the one thing everyone can see. It is a very hard look to stay cross with, and he knows it.
