A Sable Corgi on the Stove Is Avoiding Everyone's Eyes
It takes a special kind of dog to climb onto a stove, and this sable Corgi has done it. He stands on the burners with his big pointed ears alert, glancing to one side, beside a silver frying pan. Behind him is a messy kitchen with a dish towel and a bright window. His short legs and fluffy chest make the whole scene look even funnier.
Corgis are herding dogs, originally bred to nip at the heels of cattle. They are clever, bold and full of personality, and their short legs do not stop them from jumping on furniture. A clever Corgi who is motivated by food can find a way to reach the counter or even the stove top if he is determined.
The stove is not a safe place for a dog. Burners may still be hot after cooking, and pots and pans can tip. Keep your dog out of the kitchen while you cook, and use the knob covers if your dog can reach the controls. Teach a solid go-to-your-bed command, and talk to your vet if he has burned a paw.
For now, the Corgi is looking away as though nothing is odd. He seems calm, and the stove is clean and cool. He may be searching for a lost snack, or maybe he just wanted a better view of the kitchen. Either way, he stands there with all the confidence of a much taller dog.
