The Laundry Basket Had a Surprise on Top of the Clean Clothes

AI imageblenheim cavalierpuppylaundry basket

A plastic laundry basket sits on the floor, piled with gray and blue clothes, and a Blenheim puppy has sat down right in the middle of it. Her white chest and chestnut ears stand out against the dark cloth, and a tuft of fur on her head sticks up. One paw reaches over the rim, and her dark eyes look at the room with calm interest.

Dogs like the smell of their people, and freshly worn laundry carries plenty of it, which is partly why a pile of clothes feels so comforting. A puppy that curls up in a heap of sweaters is probably looking for closeness and warmth, and that is a sweet sign of trust.

It is also a reminder to keep a few things in mind. Socks, underwear, and small garments are favorites for chewing, and swallowing them can lead to emergency vet visits, so keep laundry in closed hampers or on high shelves when no one is watching. Wash anything a puppy has soiled promptly, and use pet-safe cleaners, since strong chemicals and fragrance can irritate noses.

As for this puppy, she has made herself comfortable and seems in no hurry to be moved. The laundry will wait. There is a small, soft supervisor in charge, and she has declared the basket her new spot for the whole afternoon, folding or no folding.
