This Puppy Has a Whole Dog Bed and Is Using One Corner
The dog bed is large enough for a grown dog, but a single red and white Border Collie puppy has curled up in one corner of it and taken the whole thing as his own. His chestnut back is rounded, his white paws are tucked under a blanket, and his chin is pressed into the cushion in a very deep sleep. Behind him a houseplant, a canvas bag and a pair of slippers sit in a quiet corner of the room.
Buying a bed that fits an adult dog is a smart idea for a fast-growing breed, as long as the puppy has some blankets to make it cozy. A bed with raised edges gives pups something to lean against, and washable covers make life easier when accidents happen. Place it somewhere calm but not isolated, since many puppies like to snooze within sight of their people.
Border Collies often sleep soundly when they are young and then wake up at full speed. As adults they tend to need a lot of daily activity, both physical and mental, to stay balanced. A tired, well-exercised dog is usually a calm one at home, and that routine can begin when the puppy is small, with short walks, games and gentle training matched to his age.
For now the plan is simple: sleep, grow, and wait for the next adventure. The slippers nearby are probably safe, but only because the owner is sound asleep.
