Five Lemon and White Beagle Puppies Settled Into a Tulip Bed
Five lemon and white Beagle puppies have gathered in a flowerbed bursting with yellow, pink and red tulips. They sit in a snug cluster, their pale, soft coats glowing in the late light, long ears flopping over their cheeks and dark eyes turned in different directions. A weathered house and some garden shrubs sit in the background. The puppies themselves look like a bouquet that has not yet been arranged.
Spring flowers are lovely, but tulips and their bulbs are harmful to dogs if chewed or eaten. Many other garden plants, including lilies, daffodils and azaleas, can also be dangerous. If your puppy is a digger, a sniffer or a taster, which most Beagles are, check which plants are in the yard and fence off anything risky. Fertilizers and slug bait can be dangerous too. If you suspect your puppy has eaten something harmful, call your vet or a poison helpline right away.
Beagles follow their noses everywhere, and a garden is full of fascinating scents. A supervised walk on a leash lets them enjoy it safely.
Today they are a bright, fuzzy part of the spring display, and the flowers are not complaining. A little later the light will fade and they will tumble back inside, with petals stuck to their ears and pollen on their noses. It is the sort of small, quiet scene that makes an ordinary day feel a little brighter.
