An Abyssinian Kitten Takes Command in His Tiny Pirate Outfit

Everything about this little buccaneer is serious, from the black pirate hat with its skull and crossbones to the eye patch over one side of his face. Abyssinians are slender, athletic cats with large ears and a ticked coat that gives each hair a warm, banded look. Many enjoy puzzle toys and tall cat trees, and a bored Abyssinian may find its own adventures, such as the top of the refrigerator.

Costumes with eye patches are for looks only, so it is important that the patch does not actually cover the eye or press on it. If you try one, keep it brief, make sure the elastic is loose, and never leave a cat unsupervised in an outfit. Kitchen counters are not a safe place for cats around hot stoves or sharp tools, so it is best to keep this kind of photo session short.

We will call this captain Cinnamon Jack. He has a fine nose for treasure, and his cat tree is the high seas. The crew is waiting for orders, and the first one is probably a snack.
