A Ruddy Abyssinian Kitten Wears Bat Wings Bigger Than Her Ears

AI imageabyssinian kittenbat wingshalloween porch

A pair of black bat wings is strapped to the back of a ruddy Abyssinian kitten, and she looks up with huge green-gold eyes that seem much too big for her small face. Her tall ears are pointed forward, her tail curls behind her and a scattering of pine needles and leaves covers the porch boards. A row of jack-o'-lanterns, a pot of yellow mums and a railing decorate the scene.

Abyssinians have a warm, ticked coat and a reputation for lively curiosity. They are quick and agile, and many love to climb, chase toys and investigate every new thing in a room. Because of that high energy, they usually do well with daily play sessions and plenty of vertical space to explore, and a bored Abby can get into trouble.

Wings and harnesses should be loose enough to allow normal movement and breathing, and the straps should be checked for rubbing under the legs. Many cats will walk backward or flop over when they first feel a costume, which is a sign to remove it. It is also safest to keep a kitten on a leash or indoors, since flapping costume pieces could startle her into running.

We will call her Bat Girl. She may have wings, but she seems quite happy walking. The porch is full of autumn color and she is the smallest and most charming thing on it.
