Someone Brought Home a Lovely Tulip Bouquet. The Tortoiseshell Had Ideas.
What was once a lovely bouquet is now a floor of petals. A tortoiseshell cat sits in the middle of a carpet of crushed tulips, red, pink, and purple blooms scattered around it with snapped green stems and leaves crisscrossing in every direction. The cat's patchy coat of black, amber, and rust blends almost perfectly with the colorful mess, and its head is tilted slightly with a look that lands somewhere between guilt and gentle curiosity. In the background, a cardboard box and a pair of shoes sit by the wall, and soft light brightens the edges of the scene.
Tulips are beautiful, but they are on the list of plants that are toxic to cats, with the bulbs being the most concentrated part. Chewing on leaves or petals can cause drooling, vomiting, or an upset stomach. This is a good reminder to check flowers before bringing them home, especially bouquets that get left on low tables. Lilies are an even bigger concern, since they can be extremely dangerous to cats. If your cat has nibbled on a plant and you are not sure whether it is safe, talk to your vet promptly.
Thankfully, it looks like this tortie mostly sat on the tulips rather than snacking on them. The bouquet is beyond saving, but the cat in the middle of it is still the prettiest thing in the room.
