The Butter Dish Was Scraped Clean and the Yorkie Wore the Proof
Smears of butter shine on the whiskers and chin of a small blue and tan Yorkshire Terrier, who looks up with bright, dark eyes. Beside him sits a nearly empty butter dish on the counter, its lid pushed aside. A cream-colored towel lies behind him in the soft morning light. The evidence is on his face for everyone to see.
Yorkshire Terriers are tiny dogs with a bold, confident attitude, originally bred to catch rats in mills. They are affectionate, alert and clever, and they often think they are much larger than they are. Butter is rich and fatty, which can upset a dog's stomach, and in small dogs, a rich snack can be more of a problem. If your dog has eaten a lot of butter or seems sick afterward, call your vet.
Yorkies have fine, silky hair that needs regular brushing and trimming, and wiping that buttery face is a good idea. Keeping dishes on the back of the counter or in the fridge saves a lot of cleanup.
He looks very proud, in a small and glossy way. It is hard to stay angry at a face with so much attitude and so little regret. Yorkies love attention, so he is probably hoping the buttery moustache becomes the star of the next family photo. A damp cloth will take care of the rest.
